چکیده
Abstract Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus are known as important nosocomial infectious agents also their co-infections commonly seen in some patient groups. It is well that host factors such hormones have roles modulation of growth, pathogenesis susceptibilities to antimicrobials. In our study, the influences norepinephrine (NE) melatonin (MEL) on antibiotic were examined mono co-culture conditions. Methicilin resistant (MRSA) ATCC 43300 27853 investigated determine minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) bactericidal (MBC) ciprofloxacin gentamicin absence/presence NE (0.0017 0.04μg/mL) MEL (6 60 pg/mL) by microdilution method co-culture. was found decreased (among 2-64 fold) MIC MBC values both antibiotics for MRSA. However, it shown had no effect P. aeruginosa. be reduced compared monoculture MRSA; increased Whereas, Our results suggest seems could influence a strain-dependent manner.

TRAIL attenuates RANKL-mediated osteoblastic signalling in vascular cell mono-culture and co-culture models
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Vascular calcification (VC) is a major risk factor for elevated cardiovascular morbidity/mortality. Underlying this process is osteoblastic signalling within the vessel wall involving complex and interlinked roles for receptor-activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL), osteoprotegerin (OPG), and tumour necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL). RANK...
متن کاملAntibiotic susceptibilities of Helicobacter pylori.
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of resistance among 83 Helicobacter pylori isolates cultured from biopsies taken during routine endoscopies in 1998-1999. METHODS Minimum Inhibitory Concentration of amoxicillin, tetracycline, clarithromycin and metronidazole were determined by Epsilometer test. RESULTS Forty-seven strains (57%) were resistant to metronidazole, ...
متن کاملHow Even Tiny Influence Can Have a Big Impact!
An influence network is a graph where each node changes its state according to a function of the states of its neighbors. We present bounds for the stabilization time of such networks. We derive a general bound for the classic “Democrats and Republicans” problem and study different model modifications and their influence on the way of stabilizing and their stabilization time. Our main contribut...
متن کاملMono-, Co- and Mixed Culture of Cells in the Microsystem for Photodynamic Therapy Procedures
In this paper, we present the evaluation of PDT procedures in the microsystem, in which three kinds of cell cultures (mono-, coculture and mixed culture) were performed, simultaneously. In contrast to our earlier work the geometry of the microsystem was improved: three pairs of additional microchambers for monoculture of cells were added and the microsystem was enriched of concentration gradien...
متن کاملEffects of methylmercury on primary brain cells in mono- and co-culture.
We report on the uptake of MeHg in astrocytes and neurons, as well as specific indicators of neurotoxicity. Cerebellar granule neurons and astrocytes separately and in co-culture were cultured in the presence of MeHg and changes in 3-[4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2, 5 diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT)-reduction, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) leakage, and cellular content of glutathione and amino ac...
